The World GT Challenge season ended on Monday with a final round, triple sprint shootout at the famed Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps to determine the class and team championship. Driver Sophia Ridpath was leading the AM class by a slim margin, as challenger Karel Pucalka was having a strong run in the final rounds. Daniel Sedgley was 4th in the Pro-Am class, nipping on the heels of Andy Archer for the final podium position.
Once the green flag dropped on Race 1, chaos ensued. All the class contenders had incidents during the course of the event, and the results weren’t known for several minutes as the stewards reviewed incidents and issued penalties. In the end, Ridpath claimed the Am class championship by 38 points over Pucalka. Paul Joseph Clist finished a fantastic P4 in the Am class based on clean and consistent driving all season. Sedgley narrowly missed the podium, coming up 6 points short and finished a strong P4 in the Pro-Am class. Matt Loveridge finished P12 of 17 in the Pro-Am class in a limited schedule but showed blistering pace at the end of the season, consistently competing for top 5 in the overall results.
The team of Sedgley, Ridpath, and Loveridge combined to give Olympus the Am Team championship by 134 points over Phat Atom Racing. Congratulations to all of our drivers on the fantastic results!
